The newly inaugurated Board of Directors of Tema Shipyard Limited has conducted a comprehensive familiarisation tour of the shipyard, reaffirming its commitment to strategic leadership and operational excellence.

The visit covered critical operational areas, including Dock 1, Dock 2, the Pump House, the Workshops, the Air Compressor Room, the Floating Office Quarters (FOQ), and the Slipway. The tour provided board members with firsthand insight into the facility’s infrastructure, equipment capacity, and technical operations.

Speaking during the visit, Board Chairman Dr. George Sipa-Adjah Yankey stated that it is the responsibility of the Board to ensure that the Shipyard’s facilities and equipment are properly maintained and strategically upgraded to drive competitiveness.

He outlined a bold vision: to position Tema Shipyard as the leading shipyard in Africa within the next two years.

The Chairman emphasised that modern equipment and continuous infrastructure investment will be central to achieving this ambition. He described the shipyard as Ghana’s “human gold board,” highlighting its immense potential to serve markets beyond the West African sub-region and compete on a continental scale.

Dr. Yankey also commended Management for the significant progress made since 2025, noting that operational improvements and strategic efforts have already strengthened the Shipyard’s foundation.

The Board’s visit signals a new phase of accelerated transformation aimed at enhancing ship repair, dry-docking, marine engineering, and fabrication services, reinforcing Tema Shipyard’s role as a key driver of Ghana’s Blue Economy and industrial growth.
