Accra, Ghana – February 25, 2025 – The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the revitalization and transformation of PSC Tema Shipyard Ltd. during an official visit to the facility.
Accompanied by the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, and other key industry stakeholders, the Minister met with the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Osman Sulemana, and Deputy CEO, Mr. Peter Mensah, to discuss the strategic direction of the shipyard.
Hon. Nikpe assured the new leadership of the Ministry’s full support in safeguarding and strengthening the mandate of PSC Tema Shipyard Ltd. He emphasized the critical role of the shipyard in Ghana’s maritime and industrial development and charged the management team to work collaboratively in restoring the facility to international standards.
The Director-General of GPHA, Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono, pledged GPHA’s commitment to providing the necessary support to reposition PSC Tema Shipyard as a leading maritime engineering hub in West Africa.
In a bold move to enhance efficiency and attract investment, Hon. Nikpe and Mr. Sulemana reiterated their commitment to implementing an effective 24-hour economic strategy, ensuring round-the-clock operations to maximize productivity and position Tema Shipyard as a key driver of Ghana’s industrial and economic growth.
This visit marks a significant step in the government’s broader agenda to modernize and expand Ghana’s maritime infrastructure, fostering job creation and enhancing the nation’s competitive edge in the global shipping and shipbuilding industry.
